This is my second VIPERTEK VTS-989-1. I gave the first stun gun to one of our adult children who had a greater need. I would not have given it to them if I didn’t think it had the ability to stop an assailant. Ideally, it wouldn’t need to be used because sparking this thing in the air for a second will have an effect like racking a shotgun. It will make an assailant think twice. It is loud and sounds like it will hurt.My only complaint is the charging light. It will indicate when it’s charging but not when it has reached a full charge. Instructions say to charge it for 1-2 hours once a month which seems kind of vague for something you might be staking your life on. Would it cost that much more to add a green light when fully charged or at least have the red charging light go off when full?

A week ago my Chihuahua was attacked by a neighbor’s much larger dog. I spun around to pick my dog up, but fell down instead. (I’m 67) I was beating the other dog on the head, trying to make her let go of my dog. Finally, the owner picked up her dog’s back legs and started dragging her away. I hit her dog so hard and so often that I injured my hand! It was a traumatic and horrifying event that lasted for almost a minute. Never again! I will never feel like we are completely safe from another dog attack, but I have a tool at hand that I believe will stop an attack immediately.The taser came in a small black box. It was placed inside a much bigger box with NO packing materials! It just banged around the bigger box during shipping. I figured it would either work or not, so I charged it. It works. The directions are printed in a font so small that I had to pull out readers to read it. The light is pretty weak. The slide on top takes it from “off” to “flashlight” to “taser”. From off to taser is less than a 1/2″ slide. When it is set on taser, the flashlight goes out and a red light comes on. To activate the taser, you simply switch the red toggle switch on the bottom. The design provides a nice grip for my hand.My Wish List: I wish it had an indicator light to let me know it is fully charged. Others have said that the prongs come off, so I intend to glue them in. I wish there was a separate safety switch so I never accidently turn it on in my pocket and tase myself. It seems like a fairly safe and effective method of keeping aggressive dogs away from my 9 pound Chihuahua. Just activating the taser in the air makes a loud, crackling sound.Having this in my pocket makes our walks a little less stressful. There is no perfect solution for dealing with ignorant owners and their aggressive animals. I hope I never have to use it. If I do, this taser seems right for me.

I picked this up for my college-aged daughter. She was uncomfortable walking to her car on campus late at night. This thing is wild and wicked (in a good way)! When you hit the button, it lights up and the sound is out of a horror movie. If that doesn’t scare someone away, I pity them. I think it would stop any would be assailant with no trouble at all.

Fits nicely in hand. Need to charge monthly. So set up your phone to remind yourself. First charge 16 hours then just supplement monthly. Hope I never need to use it. Just nice for travel in states where they don’t honor your cwp.

I bought for personal protection for me and my small dog when walking near wooded areas and to fend off larger dogs. It works flawlessly and emits a loud electrical sound that really gets your attention. My only issue is that you can only activate for one second intervals or void warranties.

I wish it had a fingerprint recognition system built in or maybe some kind of hot sauce dispensing system, not pepper spray, but perhaps a cartridge that we could fill with our favorite hot sauce, but could be used as a deterrent if necessary as well as a lovely condiment.Look forward to your response.Always and forever ♥-BenP.S.
