I use it to seal cooking bags for sous vide, and for the freezer. I’ve had it now for seven months, and it still works like new. I like that it can be used with any other manufacturer’s bags. I always use the double-seal option. I have never had any problems with bad seals or leakage. I didn’t buy any of the jar sealing optional equipment, so I don’t know how those work. I would recommend this vacuum sealer very highly.

i have used food savers (i am on number 3) for more than 18 years, this is way better. much easier to use, has features that makes this machine very simple to use. i like that it continues to vacuum while in seal mode, and the digital countdown feature is great.

Over the years I’ve owned several vacuum packer machines and this one stands among the best. It has all of necessary options for vacuum packing which you don’t find in a machine with this price point. It’s only my wife and I. We buy family packs of chicken, pork chops and steak etc. We brake them down into serving sizes for us and vacuum pack them. Perfect ! Just saved lots of money. I recently went to the Deli counter some sliced ham, sticker shock cheapest was $12.99 lb. to $14.99 lb. I bought a spiral sliced 8lb. ham for $27 broke it down into serving for two and vacuumed packed the entire ham. Also did the ham bone for beans later. BOOM ! more money saved. This Nesco is strong and gets the job done. Get one and save money !!! Highly recommended.

I originally purchased this vacuum sealer to package smoked cheese for aging. The unit was consistently in the top 5 at various internet rating sites. It has more than lived up to my expectations. The vacuum is strong enough to tightly seal the contents for storage. The replacement bags are a little pricey but very sturdy. We are very happy with this purchase.

I really wanted to like this unit. It has great reviews and it’s well built. But…Maybe this is a problem with all vacuum sealers? I don’t know as it’s my first unit. But if there is ANY moisture on the food in the bag it JUST. WON’T. SEAL. The suction is quite powerful, and once the moisture gets pulled upwards inside the bag towards the unit, past the heating element, you’re done for. No seal. Now, moisture WILL get pulled upwards, and that’s why there’s a drip tray north of the heating element. [And this tray, BTW, is NOT removable for cleaning. Think chicken juice. Uh, no.]I tried to mitigate with every option available on the unit. Heating the sealing strip past the ‘wet’ setting, all the way to double seal. Longest sealing time available. I set the vacuum pressure to the gentle setting, no luck. All of the above using vacuum/seal, double seal, and then manually re-sealing a second time. Nope, not even close. The only option left (and yes, this unit has several options) was to manually “Pulse Vacuum”. So basically you hold the button down, it manually vacuums and stops when you release, then you manually seal. It works, but you have to be fast on the draw. Once you see that fluid pulling up you only have a split second to stop or it’s too late.I’ll speak to Customer Service in case this unit isn’t heating to specs, but since it seals perfectly on a dry bag, I’m not hopeful. I’ll edit this review if something changes.Edited post call to customer service: high moisture content sealing issues are a thing, and not really a defect. The (very pleasant) rep suggested two work-arounds: flash freezing for 20 minutes, or inserting a paper towel into the bag before sealing. So that’s a thing to consider when purchasing a vacuum sealer I guess.

I bought this one for my husband since he wanted to make bacon for Christmas presents this year. He finally used it for the first time and night and it works beautifully. He loves it and we are very happy with this purchase. Definitely recommended!
